With international connections, we are working to have a big team dedicated to removing the barriers to unity for all of humanity. Our projects are driven to combat communities aliments of poverty, hunger, and education.
GIFT CARD PROGRAM
Many individuals who are experiencing food insecurity require particular produce due to health and diet restrictions. With our Gift Card Program, donated food cards to such individuals or anyone in need, provides participants the freedom to access the proper food.
FOOD DONATION PROGRAM
Food insecurity is a reality experienced by residents within the Washington, DC area. USU offers donations including cooked food and canned food. We financially contribute to programs like Central Union Mission, N Street Village and The Family Place and other organizations.
COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAM WITH PROJECT REBOOT
Computer and Digital literacy is an opportunity opener to economic stability and education growth. By one estimate. American jobs related to the Internet contributed an estimated $300 billion of business to the U.S. gross domestic product just in 2009. Partnering with Project Reboot, USU grants individuals in need computers for $25 with a referral.
WINTER BLANKET DRIVE
In 2015, Washington, DC broke its 120-year-old record for the lowest temperature. On February 20, 2015, Washington Post reported temperatures dropped to 5 °C. USU Strives to support those residents who lack shelter with our Winter Blanket Drive. We have distributed over 100 blankets, socks, hats, gloves and scarves to the homeless and those in need.
LITERACY PROGRAM
The importance of literacy to any community or individual is undeniable. Literacy prompts understanding, opportunity, knowledge, and unity. Our Literacy Program strives to enhance the ability of an individual to acquire and contribute their expertise via writing and reading.
